French Translation and Interpreting U.S. Preparation Class

The Department of Western Languages and Literatures offers a French Preparatory Class under the French Translation and Interpreting Division. 
 
The primary objective of the French Preparatory Class is to help students who will be enrolled in the French Translation and Interpreting Department’s Bachelor’s Program develop oral and written French communication skills at a level sufficient to follow their courses, conduct research in their fields, and carry out translation projects. 
 
Students who fail the French Proficiency Exam administered by our department, who do not take the exam, or who cannot demonstrate their French proficiency with scores from any of the exams specified in the relevant article of the French Translation and Interpreting Undergraduate Program Preparatory Class Teaching and Examination Guidelinesand who cannot demonstrate their French proficiency with scores from any of the exams listed in the relevant article—as well as students exempted under that article—are required to continue in the Preparatory Program. The duration of the Preparatory Program is one academic year.
